Amy writes, "We just had our Blue & Gold Banquet a few weeks ago, and I wanted to share what I made for an Arrow of Light award for one of the boys. I do vinyl, so I cut out the arrow of light symbol and then customized it with his name and date he was awarded it. This is a 5x20 board painted navy blue. I also made the arrow out of a dowel rod, a flint arrow head from Hobby Lobby, fake feathers, and resign string lashed around the arrow point and feathers. The colors strips are just strips of vinyl- the different colors represent the boys rank advancement and arrow points earned throughout his years in cub scouts. I used brass tea cup hooks to mount the arrow with. The boy who received this just loved it and it was a nice thing to present to him. If anyone is interested in the vinyl I do sell it and they can contact me. The cost of the arrow of light vinyl is $6.00 - and if they want the personalized lettering, that is $2.00. Colored strips for an arrow are also $2.00."

Family Home Evening Boards
This is always a hit for Super Saturday! You can also change the wording to Chore Chart and list household duties. The board is 8x24x1. You just paint it with craft paint, and sand the edges if you like the look. Apply the vinyl. Place the sawtooth hangers on the back. Hammer in the horse shoes nails in the front below each activity, to hang your name tags on. Paint your name tags and put your vinyl name on it. Hang with wire or string. Magnet Picture Board
This is a fun way to display your pictures.You take a 10x9 inch board and paint it any color. You need a metal plate that you can pick up at any hardware store. I got mine at Home Depot in the roofing section. It was already cut to the perfect size. Drill a hole in every corner, so it is easy to tap your nail in. Line up the metal on the board to where you would like it. Tape an upholstery nail in each corner. Apply your vinyl. I used ribbon to hang mine. I attached it to the back with a staple gun, but you can drill 2 holes in your wood and put the ribbon through it. You can make your own magnets, or buy some.

Vinyl Clock
I am really excited about the upcoming vinyl projects for Super Saturday and Girls night out. This 24 inch clock will be one of the projects this year. It is made from a table round found at your local home store. They are a great wedding, anniversary, birthday... gift. You can also add a family name or a fun quote in the middle.How to make this clock:
Time to make it: 1 - 1 1/2 hours
Supplies you need:
24 inch wood round (or smaller)
Craft paint
Vinyl clock face
Clock parts (9-11 inch hands, high torque 12 hour motor) (I use Klockit.com)
Drill to make center hole
1. I had my husband cut me out a 24 inch circle using MDF board from Home Depot. I think it was about 1/2 thick board. He just used a little hand skill saw. You can also use a table round located in the lumber department from your local home store. It depends on where you live, but it was cheaper to have my husband cut the circle out. Drill your hole in the middle so you know where middle is.
2. You can paint the board all one color, or you can have the center of the clock lighter like mine. All I did was paint a cream circle in the middle and paint the rest of the clock brown. I used a napkin and dipped a little brown and a lot of cream to blend the colors together. Then I added a little cream paint to the brown on the outside. It actually was pretty easy. On the edges and 1 inch from the outside I painted it black to blend with the vinyl. Let it dry. Make sure your board is smooth so your vinyl is not bumpy.
3. Add the vinyl. Once your board is dry you can apply the vinyl. It comes all ready to go. Have someone help you put it on. I did it by myself but it would have been better to have someone to help me. Start on one side to apply it.
4. Add all your clock parts and you are done. :)

Mod Podge Magnet Tiles
I just loves these little tiles. My sister-in-law made these tile magnets. We made the vinyl and she made these adorable magnets. We are coming up with different holidays to put on the tiles, and we will be coming out with teachers magnets soon.
Supply list:
1. 1 1/2 inch tiles (Found in tile section in your local home store. )
2. Scrap booking paper
3. VINYL
4. Modge Podge glue
5. Magnets
6. Strong glue to glue the magnets on the back
How to make them:
1. Cut scrap booking paper the fit on a tile
2. Glue the paper on the tile
3. Modge Podge the paper. (Follow the instructions on the bottle) (You will probably have to do 3 coats. Let each coat dry before you put another coat on.)
4. Stick the vinyl on the top of the paper. (You can Modge Podge over the vinyl if you like)
5. Glue the magnets on the back

Glass Block LOVE Vinyl
To be honest, I never really decorated for Valentines. I always wanted to, but I never found anything I wanted to display for the holiday, until now. I am really excited about my new glass block. My husband and his friends even said they really like it, and that means a lot considering the source. :) I have one glass block in my home and I am using our method of using velum paper and changing the paper for each holiday.
Supplies Needed:
-1 glass block (You can get them at your local home store. You can even buy ones with pre-made holes in them for your lights)

-Ribbon (I got mine at the dollar store)
-Velum (Optional)
-Lights to put in the block (optional)
How to Make:
1. Put a ribbon on the block
2. Put the vinyl on the glass block or the velum
3. If you are using the velum, you can put the vinyl right on the velum and then stick the velum to your glass block. My sister-in-law suggested to use the non permanent sticky dots for scrap booking on the glass block to stick the velum to the block. This way you can change your velum with every holiday.
4. Put the lights in your block.

Valentines Candy Dish
I have been deep cleaning my house all day so I can play with my vinyl crafts tonight. I am having a blast coming up with new ideas for Valentines day. This gift is great for teachers, co-workers, family, friends... or just a fun candy dish to have around the house. I got the heart dish for a dollar at Walmart in the craft section. I added one big vinyl heart on the bottom of the dish, and smaller vinyl hearts around the outside of the dish. My kids are already loving it. WOOD PLAQUE with OVERLAY |

This is up on my plant ledge. I cut some 2x6 boards in different lengths, then painted them three different colors and stained the sides, then put on the vinyl lettering. It is a really simple and casual, but I love how it turned out.

This was such a quick and easy gift to make for my mom. I had this 8x10 frame on hand, so I cut the vinyl to fit the opening, then I applied it to the top of the glass. I placed some scrap book paper cut to size to fit the back, then I used some clear caulk and ran a thin bead around the edge of the glass so when I placed the glass back inside of the frame it would stick to the wood. This way she had two choices of how to display the frame. She could keep the scrapbook paper behind it or remove the paper and hang just the framed glass up on the wall.

This turned out so cute. The vinyl was put on a cabinet door and then topped off with a metal hanger attached by ribbon.

This is another really cute wedding gift my sister in law thought up, she had me make it for her nephew. I thought it turned out so cute, it would be fun to have one hanging on my wall. Before she came to pick it up I had to take a picture of it, so I inserted my wedding photo. I just loved this idea.

This little holiday block is so inexpensive and so cute!! It is such a cute Autumn decoration! {I find my self admiring mine all the time} I modpodged some scrapbook paper on both pieces of wood, then attached the smaller piece of wood with upholstery nails (I found a box of 25 at Lowes for $1).

Large Trio Blocks
These trio blocks turned out so cute and were so easy to make. They would be so cute with scrapbook paper modpodged on them too. These would be a really easy group craft too.

These blocks are really easy to make and great for a group project especially Super Saturday or an Enrichment activity. I modpodged scrapbook paper on them and then applied the vinyl lettering. These are reversible too. Autumn on one side and Winter on the other.

With school upon us, I am finding myself needing to get back into a good routine so I thought this would be the perfect craft for this month.
My kids are still all fairly young, but I thought that these chores could grow with them.
For example
Dishes: since they aren't old enough to do the dishes alone, they can set and clear the table.
Bathroom: they can hang up the towels and wipe down the counter
Laundry: they can sort our the dirty clothes baskets into the right pile, for example whites, darks, towels, colors, etc.
Vacuum: the ones that aren't big enough to push the big vacuum, push around our little rechargable sweeper.
Dust: all my kids, even the little ones love to dust, if I give them a damp wash cloth, or occassionally spray it with pledge they are entertained for several minutes wiping things down.Garbage: most of my kids can pull out the trash bags, but my little 2 year old I just have put the new liner back in the trash can.
This way all of these chores can grow with your kids over the years, but yet they still work for little kids too.
The larger board lays horizontally and is 6"x24". It includes:

Seasonal Cubes
I just finished up these
seasonal
cubes yesterday. They turned out so cute. To do these cubes you have to use all 6 sides of each cube, and you decorate two sides per cube with each holiday and then stack them on top of one another. Then as the season changes from Halloween, to Thanksgiving, to Winter, you just turn the cubes different directions to showcase that season.

First I painted my cubes black, then modpodged scrapbook paper on the blocks, then sanded the edges and last I applied the vinyl.
The price for the vinyl for this craft is $10 (plus tax)

March Monthly Craft (Project #1)
This month's craft is quick to put together and is really cute. One side features "Welcome Spring" with a little flower and the reverse side features "Easter is on its way" with a basket full of eggs.
I simply modpodged some scrapbook paper on the block, and then embelished the easter side with some ribbon, and the Spring side with a cute little flower. (You will be provided with a flower cut out of vinyl to use in its place if you don't have a decorative flower--as shown in the sample).
Overall size of the project is 9" x 5 1/2"

Mother's Day Craft #1
The first Mother's day crafts is a quote by Julie B. Beck. It is from an LDS conference talk in Oct. 2007. I just love the quote and thought it was fitting for Mother's Day.
I simply painted the entire board black and sanded the edges to get this look.

Mother's Day Craft #3
To make this craft, I painted just the edges of my board black, then I modpodge two coordinating pieces of scrapbook paper on the board. I modpodged the main paper to fit the entire board, and then the top piece of paper I cut 1" tall then modpodged it right on top of the other main piece of paper. I sanded the edges of the board and the edges of my paper off, and then I tied a bow around the board to dress it up a bit.
The overall size of this project is 6" x 7".
